$20 Medical Cannabis Card Online in Honolulu
Honolulu residents may encounter online advertisements offering medical cannabis services for approximately $20, but that amount does not represent Hawaiʻi’s full official cost for obtaining a 329 card.
The current state charge for a new one-year registration is $38.50, including the $35 DOH registration fee and the $3.50 administrative fee. Patients must also obtain certification from an eligible physician or APRN.
Hawaiʻi allows the bona fide provider-patient relationship required for certification to be established through an appropriate telehealth appointment. However, certification cannot consist solely of filling out an online questionnaire. The provider must conduct an individual assessment, review relevant medical history, and meet the state’s provider-patient relationship requirements.
After the medical assessment, the patient completes the registry application and submits it to the medical provider for certification. DOH then reviews the application and issues the 329 card when the patient is approved.
Hawaiʻi also limits what providers may charge specifically for medical cannabis certification. Under the current fee cap, the certification evaluation and issuance of certification may cost no more than $105 for a one-year certification.
For this reason, a $20 online offer should not be interpreted as the complete cost of a Hawaiʻi 329 card. Honolulu patients still must satisfy the state’s medical-provider certification requirements, complete the official registry process, and pay the required Hawaiʻi registration fee.
