329 Card Renewal

Honolulu patients should begin renewing their Hawaiʻi medical cannabis registration before their current 329 card expires. Hawaiʻi allows renewal applications to be submitted up to 60 days before expiration, giving patients time to obtain medical-provider recertification, complete the renewal registration, pay the applicable fee, and obtain DOH approval.

Do Honolulu Patients Need to Renew Their 329 Card?

Yes. Patients must maintain a valid registration to continue receiving the protections and access associated with Hawaiʻi’s Medical Cannabis Registry Program.

DOH sends renewal notifications to registry participants by email approximately 60 days before expiration. A newly approved renewal card generally does not become valid until the existing card expires.

How Do Honolulu Patients Renew Their Medical Cannabis Registration?

Renewal follows many of the same steps used for the original 329 registration, beginning with medical-provider recertification before the patient completes the renewal registration and pays the applicable renewal charge.

Meet With the Certifying Medical Provider: Honolulu patients should arrange a renewal appointment with their physician or APRN. Depending on the provider and circumstances, telehealth may be available. The medical provider must complete the certification required for continued registration. Hawaiʻi’s Medical Cannabis Registry Program advises patients to contact their certifying provider before completing renewal.

Complete the Online Renewal Application: After the medical provider submits the required recertification to the Hawaiʻi Department of Health, patients can log into the Medical Cannabis Registry system, review their information, provide any required documentation, and complete the renewal registration.

Pay the Hawaiʻi Renewal Fee: A one-year renewal costs $38.50. Eligible patients may qualify for a three-year renewal under the updated process. Renewal fees are non-refundable.

Access the Renewed 329 Card: Once DOH approves the renewal, patients using the online system can retrieve their updated 329 card electronically. The new card normally activates when the existing registration expires, so Honolulu patients should continue using the current valid card until that date.

How Long Is a Hawaiʻi 329 Card Valid?

A standard new registration is issued for one year. Under the updated process, eligible renewal patients may qualify for a three-year registration.

How Much Does 329 Card Renewal Cost in Honolulu?

A one-year Honolulu renewal costs $38.50, including the administrative charge. Eligible patients may qualify for a three-year renewal under the updated process. Medical-provider certification fees are separate.
